RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Innovation is the main core value at the Dellait Research Center (DRC). Working with an extensive network of external collaborators, leading academics, and partners, we explode ideas that will transform the dairy industry of tomorrow.

The cross-disciplinary DRC team provides:

“You can have brilliant ideas but if you can’t get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere”.

Assessment of dairy cow performance fed soybean meal or canola meal through a meta-analysis

The poster titled “Assessment of dairy cow performance fed soybean meal or canola meal through a meta-analysis” was presented at the recently celebrated 2019 Annual Meeting of the American Dairy Science Association. The poster analyzes whether the inclusion of soybean or canola flour as a protein source in dairy cows’ diet affects milk production in any form.

Effects of feeding exogenous fibrolytic enzymes to dairy cows

Mounting feed costs and consumer concerns about the use of growth promoters and antibiotics in livestock production, provide ample incentive to revisit and refine the use of enzyme additives in ruminant diets. The objective in this report is to review research trials that evaluated the effectiveness of fibrolytic enzymes feed additives on dairy cows’ intake, milk yield and milk composition, feed efficiency, and body reserves. Performance data were obtained from 28 scientific articles published between 1999 and 2016, which studied the effects of dietary addition of fibrolytic enzyme products on the performance of lactating dairy cows). It included 32 trials and 109 treatments conducted on research stations and commercial dairy farms.
